Please follow these instruction to complete CPM’s Free Trial:

  1. Please go to our Pricing page and subscribe to the CPM Edition that best fits your needs.
  2. Launch a new CPM Server instance in the same region and availability zone as the old one was. You can launch the instance using the “Your Software” page in the AWS web site. Make sure you launch it for the newly registered CPM Edition. To determine the availability zone of the new instance or to launch it in a VPC subnet, you’ll need to launch the instance using the EC2 console rather than use the 1-click option.
  3. Terminate the old instance, preferably while no backup is being performed. Please wait until it is in “terminated” state. After terminating it please cancel your CPM BYOL Edition subscription using the “Your Software” page.
  4. Recommended: go to the volumes view in AWS Management Console and create a snapshot of the CPM data volume. The volume is easy to find as it’s typically named “CPM Cloud Protection Manager Data.” The snapshot is just for the case that there is a problem with the upgrade process and can be deleted afterwards.
  5. When your new instance is in “running” state, connect to it using https.
  6. Approve exception to the SSL certificate
  7. Step 3: Choose “Use Existing Data Volume,” and paste in your AWS credentials.
  8. Select your old data volume from the list of volumes
  9. Complete configuration. Operations will resume automatically.
  10. If you are using a CPM Thin Backup Agent, you will possibly need to update the server address (unless using an Elastic IP or dynamic DNS Name). To change agent configuration, please see our user’s guide (6.2.3 Changing Agent Configuration).
  11. If you are using backup scripts that utilize SSH, you will need to login to the CPM Server once and run the scripts manually, so the use of the private key will be approved.
