A Quick Look at Capturing and Cloning AWS Infrastructure Settings
In this post, we’ll take a quick look at how you can easily leverage the VPC Capture + Clone feature of N2WS to enhance your cloud management. Got screen reading fatigue? Watch the video version:
Enabling Capture VPC Settings
First things first—make sure that the “Capture VPC” option is turned on in your account settings. By doing so, you’re allowing N2WS to monitor any changes in your VPC configurations. This default setting ensures that any modifications to your VPC setup are recorded, giving you peace of mind when it comes to disaster recovery.
Monitoring and Capturing Changes
N2WS will start monitoring changes to your VPC settings as soon as the capture VPC checkbox is enabled. The cool thing here is that the tool captures these changes only when it detects modifications, rather than creating backups at regular intervals. This means you can keep an up-to-date record of your VPC configurations without unnecessary overhead.
Cloning Infrastructure across AWS Regions
One of the most exciting features of N2WS is its ability to seamlessly clone infrastructure settings into another region. Yep, you heard that right! By selecting your desired VPC, you can replicate your entire infrastructure configuration to a different region. This includes VPC subnet settings, routing tables, and security groups —giving you the power to create off-site backups of your infrastructure and ensure business continuity across various regions.
Exporting to CloudFormation Template (optional)
N2WS also lets you export the entire configuration into a CloudFormation template. This means you can encapsulate your infrastructure settings in a standardized and portable format, making it easy to deploy and manage your cloud resources with confidence and ease.
Safeguard your data and ensure smooth operations across the board by leveraging N2WS to capture VPC changes, clone infrastructure into different regions, and export configurations to CloudFormation templates.
