Simplifying Cloud-Native Backup, DR, Cost Control, and Compliance Across AWS, Azure, Wasabi and Kubernetes
RELEASE WEBINAR! Join us on Wednesday, January 28th for a full overview and live demo!
What’s new in N2W v4.5? A lot. This is a major version release bringing powerful new features for AWS, Azure, and Wasabi because at N2W, our mission is simple: help you protect your data wherever it lives while making it effortlessly easy and cost effective.
With v4.5, our focus is clear: simplify cloud backup, strengthen security, make disaster recovery smarter, automate DR drills even further, and help you control costs. Each feature is designed to tackle real-world challenges, layer by layer, so managing your cloud data becomes less of a puzzle and more of a solution.
Let’s dive in.
Policy-Driven AWS EKS Backup & Recovery: One Click, Total Control
Kubernetes on AWS (EKS) is booming. As more companies run critical, stateful workloads, like databases, analytics platforms, and WordPress sites, simple and reliable EKS backup and recovery has never been more important.
The very features that make Kubernetes powerful – its dynamic, distributed architecture, also make backup and disaster recovery complex. Traditional approaches, like KubeCTL scripts, are error-prone, while many organizations rely on separate third-party tools. These tools not only add complexity but also fragment workloads, leaving teams without a unified, streamlined backup management solution.
The N2W solution: One-click, policy-driven EKS backups. You can:
- Automate one-click policy backup for entire clusters or individual namespaces
- Recover in one-click to the same cluster or a different one
- Combine Kubernetes workloads with related AWS resources (e.g. RDS) for unified protection
- Perform Disaster rollback and cross-cluster migration in a single workflow
Why customers love it: Customers can now get reliable EKS protection without the complexity. One-policy, one-click support for AWS EKS lets customers streamline their backup and restore processes, ensuring consistency across distributed resources. Customers get that single-pane view of their Kubernetes workloads alongside other AWS resources which is a huge simplification compared to manually managing dynamic environments.

Azure Resource Control: Cut Costs With a Switch
N2W AWS Resource Control has been known to save AWS customers tens of thousands of dollars annually by allowing them to automate the start, stop and scheduling of virtual machines. The easy-to-use grouped Resource Control resource feature turns off unused, idle EC2 instances and saves the user significantly on compute costs.
The N2W solution: Managing unused Azure VMs is now that simple. Customers can save on Azure compute costs directly from the N2W console by:
- Identifying resources that don’t need to run 24/7
- Starting, stopping, or hibernating VMs on a schedule
- Reporting major cost savings to management, that AWS users have loved doing for years
Why customers love it: Customers can now reduce waste and regain control of their Azure cloud spend, while using those budgeting resources for higher value work.

Amazon S3 Bucket Backup and Recovery: Point-in-Time Protection
S3 buckets are unfortunately, known to make headlines as not only are they easy to misconfigure, they tend to be targeted because of their improper exposure. Many customers rely on S3 for critical data, but also accidental deletions can easily happen. N2W currently offers Amazon S3 Bucket Sync feature, protecting customers against data loss with the ability to replicate static data from one source bucket to another destinate bucket.
The N2W solution: N2W newest feature is a separate one that can be used in conjunction with Amazon S3 Bucket Sync. It takes backup and recovery of your S3 buckets to the next level by:
- Creating point-in-time backups of your buckets for instant recovery to any point
- Preserving metadata: ACLs and object tags
- Letting you store backups in AWS Backup vaults with flexible retention periods
- Providing seamless Cross-Region & Cross-Account DR
Why customers love it: More than a copy, users can now create true point-in-time backup and ensure immediate restore to any point and from any region or account. It’s additional confidence to recover exactly what you need when you need it.

Azure Cross-Subscription Disaster Recovery
Previously we introduced Azure Disaster Recovery policies across regions which was great news for customers looking to immediately copy data across geographical locations. This provides protection against outages and also provides air-gapped isolation in line with many compliance requirements.
The N2W solution: We are now happy to add an additional Azure DR option and more protection with cross-subscription DR:
- Copy backups across multiple Azure subscriptions
- Protect against ransomware or subscription-specific compromises (whether it be internal or external)
- Set retention and immutability for added security
- Avoid egress fees if your DR account is in the same region as your native backups
Why customers love it: Multi-subscription DR adds another critical layer of protection, particularly against ransomware and account-compromise. When used in conjunction with Azure’s highest level of immutability, your data is tamper-proof, and recovery is seamless.
One Policy, Multiple Retentions
Compliance is complicated. Many customers juggle daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly backup frequencies, and due to internal business mandates as well as the onslaught of external compliance requirements, all of these backup have different retention requirements. Previously, each retention period required a separate policy and multiple full backups.
The N2W solution: N2W can now not only greatly simplify backup management for native backup policies with multiple retention periods but also save on costs by:
- Defining multiple retention periods within a single policy (i.e. You select a primary daily backup point, then assign it to weekly, monthly, or yearly schedules.)
- Sharing AMIs across different retention schedules which eliminate first full backups and reduce storage costs
Why customers love it: Simpler backup management, lower costs, and compliance-ready schedules all in one feature. Not only do customers avoid multiple policy management, they avoid wasted storage by reducing backup chains and ultimately unneeded full backup storage.

Wasabi Compliance Locking Immutability
Back in our last release, v4.4, we were very excited to offer support for off-site repository storage from AWS and/or Azure to Wasabi. Customers are able to access low-cost storage, fast recovery, as well as protect against cloud outages. Additionally they can meet compliance demands through Multicloud and cross-cloud operations, eliminating any dependency on one cloud hyperscaler.
The N2W solution: Ransomware-proofing has now been added to Wasabi storage on the bucket level. Compliance locking provides the highest level of immutability as it cannot be altered or deleted by anyone until the retention expires. Customers can now:
- Prevent any deletion or modification of objects, even by the root user
- Use as part of a multilayered ransomware protection plan along with DR policies.
- Easily meet regulatory, audit and compliance requirements for tamperproof, isolated data.
Why customers love it: Critical data stored in Wasabi is not only cost-effective, secure, and compliant, it has an added layer of protection against accidental or malicious changes.

New Recovery Scenario for Azure Policies: Recover from any repository
Recovery isn’t something you want to figure out during an incident.
N2W Recovery Scenarios has been known as one of our customers beloved features, letting them test, rehearse, prioritize, automate and report on AWS and Azure multiple recoveries, so when disaster strikes, recovery is muscle memory, not guesswork.
The N2W solution: Customers can use repository-stored backups in full recovery scenarios, specifically for Azure policies:
- Test Azure policy recoveries from multiple repositories (AWS, Azure, Wasabi)
- Run network settings recovery and resource prioritization tests
- Use full Recovery Scenarios for these Azure policies without affecting production.
- Get out-of-the box compliance. Meet reporting and auditing requirements automatically.
Why customers love it: Recovery scenarios simulate actual failures, allowing teams to validate procedures without risk. This is an enormous time saver and avoids any scrambling or guesswork, the last thing a team needs when disaster strikes.
N2W v4.5 Additional Resources:
From EKS clusters to multi-subscription DR, from S3 point-in-time backups to Wasabi immutable storage, this release is all about layered protection, smarter automation, and cost savings.
2026 is shaping up to be the year organizations rethink backup and DR. With N2W v4.5, teams can spend less time firefighting and more time innovating, keeping systems safe without adding overhead.
