The cloud isn’t calm anymore. Lately, it seems to be in complete chaos.
What started as a promise of freedom—scalability, flexibility, cost-efficiency—has evolved into a high-speed battleground where the rules change daily.
Cloud infrastructure now lives at the violent intersection of global economics, international politics, and machine learning ambition. What used to be strategic planning is now survival forecasting. It’s not enough to be fast. You have to be anticipatory. Ruthlessly adaptable. Practically paranoid.
The Good Ol’ Days
When we first launched our cloud-native backup and disaster recovery platform, N2W, over a decade ago, things were simpler—but even then, we knew agility would be the key to survival.
Back then, agility meant helping IT teams ditch their clunky on-prem tape backups and leap into the cloud—some cautiously, others with a cannonball splash. Whether they were lifting-and-shifting or starting fresh in AWS, our early customers were ready to move fast and ride the cloud wave. It was an exciting time. The skies? Mostly clear.
Today? It’s a bit more… turbulent.
Cloud infrastructure now lives at the intersection of AI, global economics, and international policy. Data demands are multiplying at breakneck speed, tariffs are causing price hikes, and sovereignty laws are redrawing the data map altogether. The only constant is change—and it’s coming faster than ever.
This is the wild, wild world we live in now.
That’s why agility isn’t just part of our DNA at N2W—it is the DNA. We’ve stepped up not just to help customers survive the chaos, but to actually stay ahead of it. Because we believe cloud agility isn’t just about reacting quickly—it’s about being prepared when others are still reading the headline.
So how have we adapted—and more importantly, how are we helping our customers do the same? Here’s a look at five ways in which we’ve navigated this era of hyper-volatility:
5 Ways N2W Is Helping Customers Navigate—and Win—in a Chaotic Cloud Landscape
1. Even Before Multicloud was a thing, we dove into ‘Sky Computing’ and delivered
Before “Multicloud” was just a roadmap bullet and now adopted by over 89% of entities on the cloud, we knew enterprises wouldn’t stay in a one-cloud box forever. So while others were building backup tools in silos, we anticipated the need for a smarter way to manage backups across cloud environments. A few years ago, we brought in Azure expertise to extend our proven AWS dominance. And then we did it again with Wasabi (and there’s more to come).
Now our customers get one console – a single control point for backup and DR across clouds. Operations are greatly simplified with no duplicated effort nor the need for specialized cloud teams. We can now empower our customers as they can pivot fast—whether responding to shifting costs, new legal requirements, or global disruptions. And as cloud pricing and compliance pressures rise, we help them stay ahead with “Sky Cloud” solutions that seamlessly route backups to isolated, cost-effective storage—preserving both RTOs and long-term retention goals.
2. Turning Tariff Pressure into Long-Term Savings
Recent tariffs on over 175 countries means the entire world is waiting for its ripple affects. How long can hyperscalers absorb the increase in cloud hardware costs? Longer procurement delays, customs holdups, and rerouting nightmares are going to take a toll on the consumers at some point or another. Servers, GPUs, and networking gear – all critical to on-prem environments – are seeing delivery timelines stretch and costs rise. Many expect these price hikes to impact mainly resource-heavy services: object storage (S3, Blob), block storage (EBS), AI/ML workloads, and anything GPU-bound. The cost of compute isn’t just an operational concern anymore – it’s a concerning line item and N2W customers came to us with their concerns.
We knew many of these customers had already implemented more than one cloud, so this was a perfect opportunity to strategically place data across providers—AWS, Azure, Wasabi, —using intelligent tiering, incremental and archival backups, policy-driven flexibility and immediate cross-cloud restore. Enterprises now no longer need to establish separate teams across providers. One console provides simplicity, security and total control.
3. Moving Away from the Hyper-scalers: Sovereign Clouds Without the Headache
Data sovereignty is no longer a “we’ll deal with it later” issue. Looming rise of data localization laws are an increasing issue and European customers have raised concerns about upcoming regulatory and compliance requirements.
We listened, and delivered support for cross-cloud backup and DR, plus long-term data lifecycle management, between AWS, Azure, Wasabi and more to come. That means customers can meet data residency laws while keeping uptime and flexibility intact. No more choosing between compliance, convenience and costs—you can have pretty much everything.
4. Scalable Backups for the AI-Powered Future
The AI wave is well underway and we’ve had many-a-conversation about how our customer’s data is getting, simply put, massive. Data now includes training models, storing vector embeddings, and generating an infinite number of checkpoints.
N2W was built to scale right along with our customers. Our cloud-native platform was built to handle elastic, distributed environments. From incremental snapshots to cold storage optimization, we’ve made sure that backing up AI-scale workloads feels less like a panic attack and more like a power-up. We’ve prioritized helping customers stay ahead of the AI race. Our cloud-native architecture has seamless integration with cloud APIs to power elastic, distributed compute environments. AI is redefining data infrastructure—and we’ve built the foundation to match.
5. Cyber-Resilience Meets Compliance—Without the Panic
From ransomware to compliance frameworks with loads of acronyms (DORA, HIPAA, GDPR), our cloud IT teams are fighting battles on the legal front, but also on the compliance department side. They need to not only put out fires that already happened, they must prove they are resilient and pre-plan for any upcoming enforcements.
As threats grow more sophisticated and governments are stepping in, we’ve partnered closely with IT teams, CIOs, and CISOs to ensure they’re ready for anything. From DR testing and immutability to air-gapped backups and business continuity assurance, we have made it a priority ot help our customers not just respond to worst-case scenarios—but prove they’re prepared. Compliance isn’t just a checkbox—it’s peace of mind, and we help deliver both.
Agility: The Only Constant in a Chaotic Cloud
In a nutshell, we strive to not wait for volatility to force our hand and instead advise our customers to be pre-emptive rather than reactive. In a world where change is the only constant, agility isn’t a “nice to have”—it’s the only way forward. At N2W, we don’t wait for volatility to knock—we prepare for it, plan around it, and help our customers stay three steps ahead.
We encourage them to plan for sovereignty, pricing shocks, and compliance surprises before they happen. The cloud is no longer a safe harbor—it’s a moving target. Agility today means preparing for what you can’t predict—and doing it with speed, clarity, and confidence.
